Cyanogenmod11 for Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360 released! [Updated with latest download links Changelog and screenshots]

Hello everybody.. Our lovely Galaxy Y S5360 (totoro) has been added to official AndroidARMv6 branch and is now running CyanogenMod 11, Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Samsung stopped any further updates for this device and now the devs will develop it further.

About CyanogenMod:

CyanogenMod is an enhanced open source firmware distribution for smartphones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system. It offers features and options not found in the official firmware distributed by vendors of these devices.

Get more information on CyanogenMod Wiki.

  8. then go to advanced and then select reboot recovery
  9.       Now you Wipe data/Factory Reset and wipe cache partition

  12. Choose cm-11.0.0-GT-S5360-totoro.zip
  13. After You Install Cm11 and then select reboot system
  14. After Your Phone Boot up and go back to recovery mode and you install Gapps from above provided link
  15. Wait till the installation completes and then select reboot system.
  16. It will take time to complete
  17. Finally you have Kitkat Android 4.4.4 on your Galaxy Y.
       Current issues :
  • OMX codecs (for accelerated audio/video - may never be solved)
  • SIM unlock doesn't work (you must remove your SIM lock in another device/ROM)
  • Video recorder
      Summary of major work done:
  • Forked broadcomCM devices into androidarmv6 repository (forked from ics branches).
  • Initial changes needed for cm-11.0 have been committed to coopervetassvetotoro and bcm21553-common device trees.
  • All of Broadcom's code has been adapted for the cm-11.0 branch.
  • After some reverse engineering of the vendor binaries, "adbd" and "init" built from source now work correctly. ADB will now set the proper USB mode, can give a root shell, and no longer has a hardcoded dependency on /system/bin/sh, which should help a great deal with debugging. We also no longer need to use the init prebuilt binary - the source-built version is now compatible.
  • Implemented common kernel source for totoro, cooperve and tassve.
  • Implemented hybrid boot/recovery/charge ramdisk.
  • Fixed WiFi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth tether & mac addresses.
  • Fixed graphical performance regression on CM11 branch.
  • Fixed basic audio (speaker, microphone, software encoders/decoders)
  • Fixed GPS.
  • Fixed Gallery, wallpaper chooser, live wallpapers, RenderScript, and possible EGL crashes in other apps
  • Added workaround for SystemUI corruption
  • Fixed graphical corruption/stability issues (caused by buggy GL_EXT_discard_framebuffer extension)
  • Fixed RIL, telephony and audio routing to speakers, headset, earpiece, microphone and microphone mute.
  • Audio routing improvements/fixes, small graphics performance optimizations
  • Fixed camera
  • Fixed wifi tethering
  • Updated to newer bcmdhd wifi driver to resolve wifi instability
  • Fixed USB tethering (with caveats)
  • Improved audio routing and fixed BT headsets (SCO)
   * = this code is work in progress, which means that it is not yet available in the OTA build.

  19. Hello and let me first thank you.
I'm a novice CM user and had initially installed CM 11 per instructions from another site. The phone works, alas, the mic is mute when putting/receiving a call (though using the speakerphone works), so am planning on redoing it all, following your instructions. Do I have to follow all your instructions (I don't have a stock ROM).
In (2) the link points at "clock work mod.zip" which is a 2.58MB file.
in (4) "kernel" points to CMW recovery 6.0.5.3
This is somewhat confusing, and I haven't seen any reference in the instructions to the file downloaded in (2)
also, is stock ROM mandatory for s2e?

    many thanks

  29. I'm new to all this, so excuse me if I have done something stupid, but ...

I rooted my system (Galaxy Y S-5360 running Android 2.3.6 build XXKK6) and it seemed to go OK, as the Superuser app was installed. (After that it wasn't clear to me how I could test if it really was installed OK, so I had to trust that it was.)

Then I installed ClockWorkMod 6.0.5.3 and the problems started. I wanted to back up my system at least, so I could restore it if things went wrong, so I installed CWM from "recovery-clockworkmod-6.0.5.3-totoro.zip", which seemed to go OK. The phone re-booted and went into the CWM Recovery menu. However, I got an error message “E:Can’t mount backup path” when I tried to do a backup. After some frustration I discovered that the instructions I had found on the Web forgot to mention that you have to go into a sub-menu and mount the SD card first, so I did that and was able to do a backup. However, when I then re-booted, all that happened was that the phone re-booted into CWM. Since then, everything I do ends up with the phone booting into CWM.

[BTW, I now see that there are two things called ClockWorkMod -- there's "Clock work mod.zip" (or variations on that name) which is about 2.58 MB in size, and then there's "recovery-clockworkmod-6.0.5.3-totoro.zip" which is 4.5 MB. By trial and error I have discovered that "Clock work mod.zip" is an old version of CWM, which someone has (un)helpfully omitted to give a sensible name to.]

Anyway, my phone is now soft-bricked. How can I get it back?

    Thanks in anticipation, someone ...

  30. OK, looking around the forums at xda-developers.com it seems that CM11 for SGY has been discontinued -- is that right? Also, it appears that it was somewhat buggy, and there are comments to the effect that it's slow compared with CM7. Any comments on this? Another thing I read in several places is that the video recording function doesn't work in CM11, which would be a bummer for me because I shoot video clips from time to time. Again, is this true? Comments?

    1. coba pertama install cwm yang biasa
yang kedua install cwm recovery 6.0.5.0 pas udah install jangan langsung reboot , pilih advanced ada dipaling bawah lalu pilih lagi reboot recovery, pas udah masuk ke recovery 6.0.5.0 kan ada tulisan error gitu ya kan, itu diemin aja , langsung install cwm recovery 6.0.5.3 aja , terus jangan langsung reboot , pilih advanced truss pilih reboot recovery, pas udah masuk recovery 6.0.5.3 langsung wipe data/cache, truss pilih opsi mount, situ ente mount semuanya kaya intruksi diatas, lalu pilih ROM cm11 nya pas udah selesai installnya, langsung install gappsnya lalu reboot system

  42. Hi, thanks for the detailed explanation. I got my device back with better OS. I have used the play store before installing S2E app, however, after the reboot playstore or any google apps are not working. I am getting force close alerts for playstore/play services/youtube all the times.

Note: I have enabled all the options in s2e. Also tried by disabling the applicationdata options. However, still I am getting the same issue.

I just want to use my Galaxy y device for youtube, audio player and whatsapp apps only.

Can you please help me to sort this issue out?

    Thanks,
    Sandeep.
